A pocket-sized vlog camera that surprises with its capabilities

The Osmo Pocket series has always been a niche product, offering a compact design, smooth video and decent image quality. Three years after the Pocket 2 model, DJI has introduced the Osmo Pocket 3, which brings significant innovations. The biggest changes are a 1-inch sensor that improves image quality, especially in low light, and a larger tilting screen. In addition, the Pocket 3 offers 4K 120p video recording, 10-bit D-LogM mode for better dynamic range, faster autofocus and more.
Compact design
Pocket 3 is small and easy to use, with a stabilized 3-axis gimbal for smooth and stable shots. The camera is 14 cm long and weighs 179 grams, which is slightly larger than the Pocket 2. The large 16:9 2-inch screen rotates sideways and rotates the camera accordingly, allowing you to shoot in both landscape and portrait modes.
Excellent visualization
The new 1-inch 9.4 MP sensor is almost three times larger than the Pocket 2, offering better image quality. The 20mm prime has a relatively fast f/2.0 aperture, but may not be ideal for portraits or product shots. The camera has two physical buttons, a record and gimbal control button, and a battery life of 135 minutes (up to 240 minutes with the optional battery grip).
Modes
The Mimo app is no longer essential, as most functions are available directly on the camera screen. Osmo Pocket 3 aims to provide smooth and stable video. The camera is easy to use by pointing the lens and leaving stabilization and focus to the gimbal and autofocus. The camera has three modes: tracking, tilt lock and FPV mode.
Focus on the pleasant
Image quality is excellent for a pocket camera, especially compared to smartphones. The Pocket 3 can shoot 4K 60fps while also offering 10-bit D-LogM and HDR filming. A new low-light mode improves low-light performance.
Overall, the Osmo Pocket 3 is a great vlogging tool that offers smooth video and good audio quality. The Pocket 3 is fine for those focused on creating cinematic shots, but it’s not the best choice for portraits and product photography.
